Job Description:
The MRI Radiology Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to produce high-quality images for interpretation by radiologists. This role requires technical expertise, patient care skills, and adherence to safety protocols to ensure accurate and safe imaging.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate MRI equipment to produce diagnostic images of specified areas of the body.
- Prepare and position patients for MRI procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Review patient history and physician’s orders to determine appropriate imaging protocols.
- Monitor patients during scans for adverse reactions or discomfort.
- Maintain accurate patient records and imaging documentation.
- Ensure MRI equipment is functioning properly; report malfunctions and coordinate maintenance.
- Follow radiation safety and infection control procedures.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
- Educate patients about the MRI procedure and address any concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field.
- Certification:
- ARRT (MRI) certification required or eligible.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Experience:
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in MRI imaging preferred.
- Experience with advanced MRI techniques (e.g., cardiac, neuro, musculoskeletal) is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow imaging protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
